Hazard Wilson’s new cellmate is a hairy bundle of energy whose playful zeal can’t be contained by steel doors: a five-month-old golden retriever. Yardley is one of three canines assigned since September to inmates at a maximum-security prison in western Maryland for training as service dogs for disabled military veterans.

The number of programs nationwide using inmates to train service dogs is growing, but the program at Western Correctional Institute might be the first to use incarcerated veterans to train dogs for other veterans.

Pomeranian Puppy Training – The Need For Tenderness

As you probably know already, a Pomeranian is a cute little dog with more fur than body. Their temperament is usually friendly but highly active. It is important to start Pomeranian puppy training as soon as you bring these little guys home. The breed is typically smart and will learn fast. Their miniature size also lends itself well to learning tricks.

If you bring home your Pomeranian at approximately 8 weeks old they are going to be very tiny and frail. This doesn’t mean they are sickly, they are just very small. Good Pomeranian dog training means you will handle the puppy carefully and only allow children to handle the puppy under close supervision.

I hope that you understand why you should get a crate for your dog.When you listen to people that have just bought a new puppy say that they don’t want THEIR pet in a cage, they don’t understand! First, please don’t refer to it as a cage. Think of it as a safe place that your dog knows he can go to. Remember, dogs are pack animals, even though we try and forget that! When dogs were wild they slept together in dens. Their homes underground were secure so others wouldn’t find them. When they all slept together, there was always a feeling of security . Their little homes were just big enough to be cozy and safe, and to sleep in peace. That is why they feel so safe in their kennel. They feel safe and secure and it is a cozy home for them to call their own . You can also think of it as their own room, just as you have your own room.
