Shnoodle Grooming
A few schnoodles grow course Schnauzer-like fur on certain parts of the body (most likely the back) with different softer and more delicate Poodle-like areas. Schnoodle colors include white, brown, gray, black and buff (apricot). Multi-colored Schnoodles can include “phantom,” which looks like the coloring of a Doberman Pinscher, peppered, sable or parti-colored.
Pups in the same litter may have different coat characteristics, and may or may not aggravate allergic reactions in people. Their fur doesn’t shed like some other breeds, but grows a lot like human hair. This demands weekly brushing and grooming every two to three months in order to guarantee matting or tangling doesn’t become a problem.
There’s no specific “breed” cut for a schnoodle; most dogs receive a general-purpose cut (with perhaps a #7 shears), with rounded or squared-off face (for a more terrier-like appearance).
Similar to poodles, a few schnoodles will acquire an ample amount of in-the-ear hair. This must be removed by a veterinarian or groomer to forestall somewhat persistent ear infections. Similar to both the Poodle and Schnauzer, the Schnoodle may need expression of the anal glands a couple of times annually; your veterinarian or groomer should perform this service.
