Some dogs seem to enjoy bath time, while others appear to hate it with a passion and will run and hide behind the sofa at the mere mention of the word. But is there a way to make baths more fun for your dog so that he actually enjoys it, or at the very least tolerates it a little better?

Getting the dog in the bath is often the biggest struggle, so you might try and make a game out of it to get the dog excited. Failing that you could always trick him into jumping in the bath by throwing a toy into it. Rewarding your dog with a small treat once he’s in the bath can also help to break the negative association with bath time and make the animal think of it as something more positive or at least, in human terms, having a ‘silver lining’.

It may sound silly, but using a soothing tone to talk to your dog can also work wonders for keeping him or her calm. Conversely, if you get frustrated and shout at the dog, you may only make it more nervous about bath time.

Think about what dog shampoo you use

You should also think about the type of dog shampoo you use. Some dogs may, for whatever reason, dislike the scent of a particular shampoo. If your dog appears to react negatively once the shampoo is being applied, it may be worth trying out a different one. Of course, you should consider what dog shampoo is right for your dog’s fur and what will keep it in a good condition.

Once bath time’s over, it’s a good time to dig out the dog grooming supplies, such as combs and clippers, so that you can get it looking its best, and get all of the necessary tasks the dog dislikes out of the way in one go. You might also consider using dog coats on walks, particularly during the winter and in bad weather, to keep the dog’s fur in good condition and reduce the number of dreaded baths that need to be taken.

Bucket-headed dog by Paul Kidd via Flickr

The question of how often you should feed your dog is one that many first-time owners often struggle with. The problem isn’t helped by the fact that the amount that may be ‘right’ for your dog isn’t necessarily the amount that the dog would choose to eat. Dogs will quite happily eat (almost) anything that is put in front of them, and it can be very easy to overfeed your dog though giving in to ‘pester power’. To be sure that you don’t end up with an overweight dog that’s unhappy, uncomfortable and prone to other health problems, there are a number of factors to consider.

How old is your dog?

Age plays a crucial factor in determining the correct amount of food to give your dog. It will also dictate the type of food you give. For a growing puppy, plenty of protein, a certain amount of fats and a good blend of vitamins and minerals are essential to healthy growth, bone development and building a strong immune system. Older dogs will need a different balance of vitamins to maintain peak condition.

What breed?

The breed of dog will often dictate what type of food you give them, and how much. For example, some larger breeds may need a high calcium diet when they’re young to develop stronger bones, whereas small breeds will require less food than a larger dog.

How active is your pet?

A lively, active dog that burns off a lot of energy will require more food than a more sedentary animal. But even here, be aware that you are not overcompensating and giving an active dog too much food.

Giving Your Dog The Right Diet

Once all these factors have been taken into consideration, you can then use your judgement to ensure that your dog is receiving the right amount of food. Rather than generic brands of dog food, choosing a specialist dog food such as Eukanuba, James Wellbeloved or Arden Grange can ensure that not only are you giving your dog the right amount of food, but that food is nutritionally beneficial, tasty and healthy too.

I write a ton (emphasize TON) of articles that deal with dogs and how they interact with home and family. I’m always stuck doing a lot of research – for both topics and facts. Add to that the fact that I sometimes syndicate articles that were written by other authors if doing so satisfies my requirements. I have found a great resource for research and/or sydication, and that source is the Article Alley home and family articles section of their directory.

Whether you are a website publisher or niche marketer, you can take advantage of article directories to find new and untapped niches to write about. I guarantee you’ll find good topics to explore (perhaps even become expert in), and you’ll get a glimpse of how a successful writer works. (Tip: Articles written by “expert authors”, and articles that have received comments, are both great ways to identify really good niches).

Article Alley is a nicely organized article directory. I use the home and family articles category at Article Alley frequently. You should do the same if you’re serious about being a successful publisher.

Does your dog bite or growl at people (and even small children) that they do not know very well? This form of dog aggression is relatively a common occurrence and has been assessed to be usually born out of fear.Although dogs are by nature territorial, it becomes a cause for concern, however, if they become overly aggressive to strangers.

Fear-based dog aggression mostly traces its roots to the lack of confidence in the development of canines. Dogs that have been in the bottom of the pack with its litter mates, physically or verbally punished at an early age, kept outside the home, tethered on a short chain, and frustrated or taunted by people usually become aggressive.

On the other hand, genetics can also play a role in this kind of behavior as some dogs that have not been abused will still react to a frightening stimulus. Some breeds, like the terrier and bull breeds have a higher likelihood of developing dog aggression upon reaching maturity than other breeds.

Dog owners can stop fear-based dog aggression to avoid potentially dangerous situations for both humans and other animals. In general, proper instruction is best done through positive reinforcement as it produces better results. For example, you should train your dog in an atmosphere where he feels comfortable and not threatened.

Experts recommend to have a veterinarian check your dog if he suddenly becomes aggressive. You also have the option of using a muzzle if you are concerned that he will be aggressive towards other dogs or people.Your dog may need more time though to get used to the feel of the muzzle.

It’s also important to socialize your dog by taking him to public places and providing opportunities to meet other dogs and people as well. Keeping your pet in isolation deprives him of the chance to interact with other people and dogs, thus heightening his fear of strangers.Remember that aggression may also be due to pent-up energy that escalates to anxiety and frustration over time. Continuously neglecting his basic need to get out there and exercise will only compound the problem further.

As a whole, we advise to regularly train your dog under a variety of conditions and in progression. Consistency is the key to changing any undesirable behavior since dogs don’t learn new concepts overnight. It will take time for him to unlearn the aggression caused by a number of factors.

As such, owners must exercise a great deal of patience because training is a gradual process that cannot be forced or rushed. This means that you have to enforce discipline through a humane approach.Physical punishment should be avoided during this kind of training as it will only impede any progress you've made.

Therefore, getting rid of dog aggression in general requires a lot on your part.Investing enough time, knowledge and persistence will eventually see your hard work paying off in the end.

Gone are the days when the pet lovers used to carry their pets in their arms or even they would allow the pet to accompany them walking? These days we have many accessories where we can allow your pet to accompany us in a stylish way. Yes! We can buy the pet strollers, dog carriers, and even the dog bike baskets which are designed in a very elegant way so that we can carry the pet in an easy manner. If you are an ardent cycle rider and you very frequently ride the cycle, then you can now carry you pet in the modish Sport Cruiser Pet Bike Basket which is priced for just $ 112.00 which means it can be affordable for any common person. The item no. of this beautiful cycle is SKU164131. It hardly takes any time to attach the basket to the cycle. I was very excited when I bought this cycle for my daughter because this was a double gain for me. First and the foremost gain was that my daughter would be fit while riding the bicycle and secondly my pet would also get a good and perfect ride on the bicycle. Both of them will enjoy.

This bicycle with the designer dog carriers basket is so perfectly designed that it gives all the comfort to the puppy while he/she is put into it. To give more cozy and comfortable feel especially during the winter one can even put a small blanket in the basket. There are so many features of this Sport Cruiser Pet Bike Basket that I insisted my husband to get it for my daughter. The basket is so spacious that all the necessary articles which one needs to carry can very easily carry for example the leashes, keys, the cell phone, the sun glasses and even the music player if one is fond of the music. The basket weighs for even less than 5 lbs. The handle bars can be easily secured with the help of original click connectors. My puppy was feeling happy and relaxed when my daughter put her in the basket, the same was evident on the face of my puppy also. She was wagging her tail in excitement showing her feelings. The Pet Cruiser Sport Bike is generally available in four delightful colors such as Pink, Blue, Lime and the Silver. We deliberately chose the color pink because of the fact that our puppy liked that color, this was evident because whenever she used to see color pink she starts jumping.

More advanced features which impressed us to buy this bicycle are that this bicycle comes with a sturdy cushion internal assembly which means it would give the best comfort to the puppy. The basket is made up with the help of six integral air vents, which allows the pet to be cool even in the chance of sudden showers. The liner pad can be easily removed and washed when it turns dirty. The 600 X 600 denier rip stop polyester fabric is used to cover the basket.

The needs of each dog breed varies according to their background. Dogs from the breed of the hunters, long for the freedom of being in such open spaces and thus require a great deal of time and effort to engage them into different activities or activities outside of your home. If you are looking for dogs to be “lap dogs,” some types of dogs such as miniature dogs can actually serve you well, since they don’t need that much space or time to be outside just to run around and play, you wont find it hard to deal with them especially if you’re the idle type of person as they can go with the flow of your life.

The size of your living space has something to do with the size of your dog since they both have to match with each other’s demands. If you want to own a reliable watchdog to watch over your city apartment, then a German Shepherd can really be a good choice, but, that dog also needs some time to run or play and be dynamic everyday so see to it that you can find time to bring him to a park or to any open spaces where he is free to do his thing. If you’re too tired or lazy to give this beautiful dog the physical exercise it needs, then, buying a dog and making it as a watchdog is a very wrong move but buying an alarm is a much better option. A breed of dog that can be contented in the vicinity of your apartment and doesn’t need that much time to have exercises or play outdoors is in the form of toy dogs such as a poodle or Chihuahua.

If your apartment or house has a solid, high railing in its balcony that is secured enough, that is already enough for such a small dog to enjoy its outdoor time but you should also see to it that you can supplement that with a walk outside even just once a day. Don’t let the dog’s appearance or disposition fool you.

If you want a gentle as well as a quite dog, then you might as well settle for a greyhound – since it can really be good to close living spaces. But that gentle greyhound must have daily physical exercise in enough area to run and play. For up to the speed of forty five mph, greyhounds can actually run that fast or even faster, so you don’t want them turning your family room into a track for running. Neither you nor the dog will be pleased with the result.

Size has everything to do with dog upkeep. When you came to visit the pet store, you instantly fell in love with that cute, furry puppy which seemed to have less the inclination to chew up some pup chow, but now, it grew up to be some creature in the form of a one hundred and twenty pound St Bernard that could almost consume just anything and would even leave your wallets very soft and thin. To keep him in 8-10 scoops of high quality dog food daily, you’ll be spending the price of a daily steak dinner – only you don’t get to eat the steak. Moving around furniture is not a very hard thing to do for your dogs especially to the bigger ones. When there’s nothing to do and you’re running late, rearranging your living room is something that your large dog would find it fun and exciting to do.

On the other hand, little designer costumes, knitted sweaters and clever toys are what you can find in the closet of so many toy dogs. Giving them such canopied or French provincial fashionable beds is also one of which most pet owners would love to do for their miniature dogs. Ordinarily, holding on to all those doggie stuff is more complicated than keeping the dog himself since it could almost take up a great deal of space and maintenance.

Some pet owners have multiple pets and if you are one of them owning multiple dogs, sleeping space is one important requirement that you need to provide each dogs irrespective of what breed they belong. You should not expect that they would approve of being crowded with each other in just one place. It is not only you who needs space but also your pets or dogs specifically. individual territory where it is possible to sleep, relax and hide their personal things such as bones or toys is also one thing that most dogs actually call for.

For an easy way to transport your dog when traveling try using dog carrier backpacks. They offer you an easy way to move around with your dog. They also offer dog carrier backpacks with wheels so that you do not have to carry them n your back. Find the perfect dog carrier back pack for you and your dog.

Outdoor kennels having enough protection from any weather particularly the bad one should be provided to those dogs that are left to sleep or reside outside. You aren’t sharing your bedroom with the neighbors, so why would you anticipate your dog to share his doghouse with the new dog? Bear in mind that if you want to add up another dog to your home, the space and care needs of each dog should be considered.

Now that you have brought your long-awaited puppy or dog home, you have found that he is driving you crazy. Is he running around like mad chasing his tail, barking like crazy whenever someone knocks at the door or is outside or to your horror chewing away at your favorite pair of shoes. If you are experiencing this, then it is probable that your puppy or dog is hyperactive.

What is important to know is whether your puppy or dog is just being over energetic or is suffering from a condition called true hyperactivity. True Hyperactivity is medical term for an uncommon condition where the dog has frantic behavior, restlessness, panting, and often chasing his tail until he collapses with exhaustion. If you think that your puppy or dog is suffering with this condition then it is advisable to see your vet.

What you may not have considered is that your puppy or dog is hyperactive because that is the characteristic of its breed. An example is a Collie, a herding dog, which has been bred to have lots of energy to carry out is work. This is why it is so important to check out the specific characteristics of different breeds before you choose one to suit your lifestyle.

It will be a challenge to train your hyperactive dog or puppy, and will take consistent work. Outlined below are some tips which may help you with this.

An over energetic dog requires plenty of excercise to wear him out. I recommend that you take your dog for long walks at least twice a day and play games such as frisbee, fetch and find. This not only gives your dog great exercise, but is a good way to keep you fit.

For excessive and inappropriate barking, you should command your dog to stop given in a stern voice. If he is barking because someone has rung your bell, and he just carries on barking even when you have commanded him to stop then you could try and pull him away from the door and give a correction such as a quick jerk on their collar. If your puppy or dog is outside and does not stop barking, you should command him to stop through the door and not open it if you are not ready to let him in. Try kicking the door from the inside if he does not stop barking. The idea is that the loud noise from the kick will startle your puppy or dog enough to stop barking.

To stop your puppy or dog from chewing your house to bits, it is a good idea to place your valuables out of reach. Choose some sturdy toys for your puppy or dog to play with. Play regularly with your dog with these toys in order for him to have positive associations so that he is more likely to play with them when left alone rather than chewing your possessions.

You may want to consider using a dog crate at times when you not able to interact with your puppy or dog. Dogs like the comfort of a confined and defined space and this will act like a tranquillizer and quieten him down.

Finally, it is extremely important to remember to give a positive reinforcement for wanted behavior and negative reinforcement for unwanted behavior. I hope that you will now start to employ some or all of these techniques to train your hyperactive puppy or dog.

Taking care of a small dog would involve the same functions as with larger dogs. The owner of a small dog must however make some adaptations to suit the animal’s specific needs. Just think about some of the everyday events that may need to be looked at when considering certain needs.

Feeding time:

You must consider the size of the food you buy them from the grocery store as they won’t be able to eat the normal type of food ordinarily purchased for a regular size pooch. You’ll need to be sure to buy a kibble designed to fit his smaller mouth (these are easy to find among the premium dog food brands). Fortunately, canned food should not be a problem and will definitely be easier to obtain.

Where they will stay – safely:

It is easy for them to run around and go to the toilet outside providing the area is secure isn’t it? Smaller dogs are much more nimble that larger dogs and what might be a secure environment for one is not necessarily for the other. Another problem is safety from above because it has been known for large birds of prey to swop down and carry of tiny dogs without any problem whatsoever. A simple answer to this problem is to construct an enclosed play area which should stop this from happening.

How to train the dog:

Dog professionals tend to agree that tiny dogs are no more trouble to train than their larger cousins however, owners have a history of treating them in a way that spoils them and makes it more difficult. Although your pet might indeed fit into your pocket (and some breeds can), they still see the world in relation to pack mentality and someone has to be the leader so if you are weak, they will govern you. It’s a wise idea to make sure your pet is thoroughly house trained, no matter how small and inconsequential the mess might seem when he misses. According to dog experts, let the dog work for you so that he understands and identifies your demands and rules. Never reward a dog with goodies or a meal till he has perfected your command for doing tricks or even simple jobs like sitting or fetching.

Buying dog collars:

You can find all kind of small dog collars online. There are a variety of different styles you can choose from: studded and plain to leather. Whichever small dog collar you choose for your pet be sure it is comfortable. You want to be able to have enough space between the dog collar and their neck.

Their appearance and smell:

Keep in mind that grooming a small dog is slightly different to larger ones and cater for this. One such need is frequent manicuring since these tiny animals spend less time on rough surfaces than larger dogs, which usually wears the nails naturally. Brushing his teeth twice a week is mandatory, especially if he is on soft canned foods. The above makes it clear that it does not matter whether you are taking care of a small dog or a large dog the methods are pretty much the same. While each requirement may seem small and insignificant, but when you do it with earnestness, it can make a huge difference in the way you keep a dog.

Training your dog to obey commands is an important part of pet ownership. When your dog is properly trained, it is much easier for you to communicate with him and this enhances your relationship. This can also help save your pet from harm.

Dogs want your praise, so using positive reinforcement when training your dog or puppy is the best approach. Hitting or yelling rarely works, and besides who wants to hit or yell at their dog anyway?

The “down” or “lie down” command is one of the basic commands and should be one of the first things you teach your dog once he learns to sit on command. It is not hard to train a dog to obey commands and once you have done one command, it gets even easier as the process is basically the same for each. Here’s some steps you can use to teach your dog to lie down on command:

1. Get the dog to sit (you should have already trained him in this command)

2. Firmly give the “down” command while gently forcing his legs out in front (this will cause him to lie down).

3. Give your dog praise. Show him you are really happy with your voice and body language.

4. At first the dog will get right back up, but as time goes on you can lengthen the time the dog stays in the down position by waiting to give him praise.

5. Repeat this anywhere from 3 to 5 times for each session. Repetition is important but you don’t want to do too much at one time. If you really want to drill it in, you can have several sessions spaced out throughout the day.

There’s more rewards than meets the eye with training your dog. For one the dog gets used to listening to his name. He also will get used to doing things on your command. All in all, training strengthens your positions – you as leader and helps the dog feel secure. Spend a couple of minutes each day training your dog. This will help cement your friendship.

If you prefer a bouncy, energetic small dog over a calm, lap dog, a yorkie may be a good choice for you. Yorkie puppy care is no different than shih tzu puppy care or other types of puppy care. Yorkies need food, attention, water, and a lot of grooming. Because yorkies have long coats, they require more grooming than those of other toy breeds.

Yorkie Puppy Care and Training

Yorkies are a pretty stubborn breed and can be difficult to train. Very young yorkie puppies do not learn very fast so you have to be very patient. Most yorkie owners have success in housetraining their yorkies when they are around 5 to 6 months old. It is important in yorkie puppy care and housetraining to never spank them when they eliminate in the wrong place.Instead, scold them. Yorkie puppies are intent on pleasing their masters and they can understand that you are upset when you scold them.Do reward a yorkie puppy when he eliminates in his litter box like he is supposed to.

Yorkies are highly energetic and need extra attention for that reason. They tend to expend more energy than they have so it’s important to provide a constant supply of water since dehydration can happen very quickly. It is also important to be careful that their blood sugar doesn’t get too low.You can prevent that by giving them a little bit of sweet water or syrup. If that doesn’t do the trick, you should take them to the vet. Generally problems with low blood sugar subside after the puppy reaches 12 weeks of age.
Yorkies need to be groomed daily because of their long coats. If you don’t brush their coats they will get matted. In yorkie puppy care it is important to never brush a dry coat.Always spray their coat with a little bit of water and conditioner prior to brushing. Brushing will keep yorkie puppies clean but yorkie male puppies need to be washed with a damp cloth daily on the side of the body where they urinate.

In yorkie puppy care it is important to feed the food recommended by the breeder for the first two weeks. Yorkie puppies should eat two to three times per day. After the first two weeks you can start mixing the recommended food with premium dry food. It’s important to feed your puppy premium food otherwise he can have digestive problems.
In conclusion, yorkie puppy care is not much different from other kinds of puppy care. Your new yorkie will require a lot of love, maintenance and attention but within a few weeks you will surely fall into a comfortable routine. It might seem like a lot of work at first but once you find your rhythm, your yorkie will be like just any other member of your family.

What is the first thing that you do whenever you discover that you have bad breath? For most of us, it is a matter of going out and getting some breath mints in order to cover up the odor. You might be surprised to learn that a breath mint, although effective at making our breath smell better is not really going to treat the problem that you are dealing with in many cases. As a matter of fact, it often only covers over a more serious problem that is manifesting itself through your breath. What are some of these problems?

The most common reason that we have bad breath is because of problems with our mouth. The human mouth is home to countless types of bacteria, many of which actually serve a useful purpose. Unfortunately, they can also emit an odor that causes our bad breath. Dump the breath mints and begin brushing and flossing regularly. Don’t ignore the tongue as this is often the culprit when it comes to halitosis. If you haven’t been to a dentist in a while, make an appointment. Tooth decay, gum disease and abscess may be at the root of your problem.

Some more serious problems that may be causing your bad breath are diabetes, liver and kidney problems and a lung infection. All of these problems typically cause bad breath because they are releasing toxins into the bloodstream. As the blood filters through the lungs, these toxins are released and passed through the mouth or nose on their way out. This can cause bad breath in many of us and covering it over with a breath mint might just allow the condition to continue unchecked.

One more problem that you might be dealing with is something that no amount of breath mints would cure. This is a problem with a sinus infection, and the odor that is causing the halitosis is actually coming out of your sinuses, not your mouth. The way that you can tell if this is the problem is by having someone check your breath when you are breathing through your nose. Although this isn’t something that just anyone would do, it can help you to identify a problem that should be taken care of.

All of these problems should be addressed directly. Simply covering over the problem with the breath but is only going to allow the problem to continue and perhaps even get worse in the process.

Adopting a puppy is a noble thing to do. Note many people consider puppy rescue adoption for various reasons. What many people fail to understand is that giving a little puppy a home can be emotionally rewarding. Just think about how happy the little puppy would be if you bring it home and care for it. However, before you jump into the idea of puppy adoption, you need to understand the responsibility that goes with it. Remember that puppies are just like human beings, they need to be cared for and loved. To make sure that you do not end up regretting your decision of giving a little dog a home, here are some puppy adoption considerations that you need to ponder upon.

Consider Your Budget

Having a puppy can be quite expensive. Yes, most puppy adoption centers do not charge you for adopting a rescued puppy but once you bring the puppy home, you will have to pay for its food, grooming, medications and the likes. If you are on a tight budget and you cannot afford to pay for all these things, you might as well forget about puppy adoption. On the other hand, if you some extra money stashed away and you would like to use of you’re your money to give a little dog a home, then that is well and good. Just make sure that you set aside enough money every month for your puppy’s needs.

Consider Your Time

Even if you have enough money to pay for all the needs of the puppy, this does not mean that you are qualified for puppy adoption. Remember that your puppy does not only need feeding, it also needs your time. If you are one of those people who are always on the go and are hardly ever home, you might as well forget about puppy adoption. There is no point of adopting a little puppy only to leave it all alone at home most of the time. If you are not around, who will feed and walk your dog?

Consider The Amount Of Space You Have At Home

Before you go to a puppy adoption center and offer to adopt a puppy, you need to make sure that you have enough space for the little one at home. Remember that puppies need spaces of their own. If you happen to live in a very small place and you do not have enough room for a dog, you might as well forgo the idea of adopting a puppy.

A dog that exhibits good behavior and understands its place is a dog owner’s dream but sometimes, not the reality. A number of dogs will jump on anybody who is near while others show hostility towards other animals or strangers. Those behaviors can have some useful function sometimes, the desire of most people is for their dog to be calm in all situations.

Do we absolutely have to train our dogs? Most dog owners would share my opinion that it is very important. It is clear that a well-mannered dog is ideal, but a lot of owners feel strapped for time to do the training and the money to hire it out. Some owners don’t want to worry about the problem of dog training, whether they hire a professional or train the dog themselves. What happens is that the dog sometimes appears out of control and may frighten strangers or even members of the family. The safety of the dog and others is most important; therefore, training your dog is vital.

Inexpensive dog training equipment you purchase yourself can make training your dog a little easier.

Straining on the leash when walking is a dog’s way of letting you know it feels it is in charge and you are just following. These kinds of dogs will do anything they want while out walking: chase other dogs or cats, chase birds and pretty much ignore their owner. Owners of these types of dogs get pulled and dragged while the dog wanders in any direction it pleases.

Walking harnesses today are created so that it is uncomfortable when your dog pulls on it. The harness fits snugly against your dog’s body and neck (but without choking) and puts uncomfortable pressure against the dog’s armpits whenever it pulls against its lead. When the dog stops pulling, the pressure stops. This way, the dog will stay close to its owner. This kind of leash doesn’t require much skill and often results in a great improvement.

Rewarding the dog for appropriate behavior is done simply by giving it extra attention. But what can you do to help curtail a dog’s bad behavior?

It is nearly impossible to communicate with your dog while it is misbehaving, which is the most difficult part of changing bad behavior. When a dog is misbehaving, most people say “No!” which works up to a point.

There is a terrific training device that gives the essentials to dogs when they are misbehaving. All you need is a collection of Dog Training Discs.

Each time the dog misbehaves, fling the disc to the ground and say “No!” As the discs bang around together, they will startle your dog no matter what and when that sound is combined with the word “No!”, it sends a powerful message to your dog. The dog will soon correlate the discs and the command “No!” In fact, your dog will soon respond to the command of “No!” as it would when it hears the discs hit the ground.

Using a dog kennel to train your new puppy is a great idea. Dog kennels offer your puppy a place where they can feel secure. Purchase portable dog kennels for your home here.

Without spending a lot of money, your dog training just became a lot easier with these two devices. If you have a dog, see if you can find some time for training. Read a couple of books on the subject or find a course in your area.

When selecting a healthy dog diet it can often be difficult and confusing, that is if you let it be. The packaging and marketing of the products you wish to purchase will frequently blur your perception of it. Your dogs diet is the easiest and best way to keep your pet in great health and happy for the many years you will have together. It is best for you to find a diet that will provide all the crucial nutrients that are needed for your pet to thrive rather than just survive.

So here are some basic guidelines for you to follow when you are choosing the food for your dogs diet. you should know that every dog is different and what is the right diet for your neighbours dog may not be exactly what your pet needs.

Your first step when considering your dogs diet, is to talk to your veterinarian. This trusted person has your pets interest at heart, just like you. Your veterinary surgeons recommendations can steer you in the right direction.

Find a reputable brand of dog food to be the main component of your dogs diet. It is not impossible to stumble across a high quality dog food that you have never heard of, but a well known and prominent manufacturer supplies an amount of safety and security about the decision to feed your dog a healthy diet. Recognized and reputable dog food manufacturers take the time to research the topic of pet nutrition. Allow your pet to benefit from the company’s wealth of information rather than going it alone.

What you need to do is choose a dog food that is appropriate for your pets age. With a senior that is showing signs of aging, then it is better to consider a dog diet that is especially produced for senior dogs. On the other hand puppies have different nutritionary needs than adult dogs. You will want to find a variety of food that matches your dogs needs. Even the breed and size of your pet will make a difference in the type of diet you should feed it. Diets developed specifically for small dogs and large breeds are readily available. You will need to keep this in mind when choosing your dogs diet.

Activity level and weight are other factors to consider when making the decision of what to feed your dog. If your dog is extremely active or obese, you may want to pick a type of dog diet that accommodates such situations. When you decide on a specific diet for your dog, pay attention to the portion size. Obesity is a serious problem in pets. It can lead to hip problems and take years off your pets life.

Table scraps are unquestionably not a healthy diet. Your dogs diet should consist of a high quality food especially designed to meet your pets dietary needs.

Only supplement a high quality diet when recommended by a veterinary. Giving your pet too many supplements in your dogs diet can result in a lower quality of health.

Always consult your veterinarian for advice on what to feed your dog. Your dogs diet will fire his health, so select your dogs diet wisely. Choose a brand of food that is reputable and suitable to your dog. Getting the right diet for your pet will helppromote good health and allow your dog to thrive.

Having an Australian Shepherd for a pet can be a source of pride and joy. This breed is meant for an active lifestyle so be prepared to live one yourself. To be able to maximize the breed’s potential, it is essential to learn some vital facts about training Australian Shepherds. Quick Facts Commonly known as Aussie Shepherd, this breed originated from the U.S. trained as herding dog in farms. A medium sized, stout, well-balanced country dog characterized by its triangular shaped ears set high on the side of the head and slightly rounded at the tip. These animals have a masculine chest and stands evenly on all fours. Its docked bobtail is one identifying character. Masculinity and femininity is evident in Australian Shepherds. Height: Male 20-23 inches.Female 18-21 inches. Weight: Male 50-65 lbs Female 40-55 lbs.Personality Aussies are high spirited and sociable animals. Playing around is one of the things they love to do. They enjoy rough playing. Though they are generally playful, they have a tendency to be quiet and reserved around strangers. Loyal, affectionate and are eager to please their masters. In fact, this animal is said to possess a sixth sense about what their master wants. They do their tasks that are expected of them with a lot of enthusiasm. Children would love this kind of breed due to their playful and energetic nature but at the same time they are wary around strangers. It is important to expose them to people and other dogs at an early age to train them to be sociable and able to discriminate between friend and foe. Training Since herding is ingrained in this breed, it is imperative that they are well trained from the start to obey commands and control their exuberance especially around children lest their herding instinct gets better of them. Australian Shepherd dog training should involve plenty of brisk activities to enhance their well being. It is recommended to get them into an obedience training school to properly channel and control their liveliness. The energetic nature of Australian Shepherd needs to be channeled to productive tasks, lots of play and active training otherwise their pent up energy will result to destructive chewing and digging. They are happy when they are doing something rather than lazing around. Rough housing, playing around, jumping and running are characteristics of a normal Aussie. Life span of Australian Shepherds is 12 years and up. Active Aussie’s appetite is generally bigger than other dogs of the same size so ensure that you feed him plenty of high quality food. A lot of preparation and commitment is required when planning to own this kind of breed. Life with well-trained Australian Shepherd dogs can be both enjoyable and rewarding since they are loyal and hardworking.

It can sometimes be difficult to find the right dog house for your dog even though today there are plenty of choices available today. Most ready built doghouse are built mostly of the same design and model with standard sizes.

If you want something unique for your doghouse, something different from the other dog house in your neighbourhood, you can try building your own custom dog house.

There are several dog house plans online that you can follow and you can always alter it to your liking. It is also cheaper and the building materials are usually quite readily available.

If you do not have the skills or the time, then you can also get custom built dog houses. There are a few websites such as doghouseplans.com that offers custom built dog houses to your design and preferences.

It has become more popular in the past few years because people realized dogs are a part of the family and want them to live in specially designed doghouses that match their own house. There are now more specialized companies that can tailor and built exquisitely detailed doghouse for more affordable prices compared to just a few years ago.

Of course, a custom built doghouse is still more expensive compared to ready off the shelf doghouses. However, there are a few ways to save some money such as using cheaper wooden building materials as well as cheaper models of dog air conditioning and heating systems.

Regardless of your budget, you should construct a dog house that is warm, dry and comfortable for your dog. Most modern materials used to build dog houses are treated to prevent rot and rain from seeping into the wood and corroding them.

Alternatively, plastic doghouses are also becoming more and more popular these days. They are cheap and highly resistance to corrosion from the weather. They are also easier to clean compared to houses made of wood.

Discover where to buy cheap custom cedar dog houses at my wooden dog house site.

Beagles are a popular breed because of their cuteness and friendly disposition. It is important to learn more about beagle puppy care and puppy health care in general prior to taking your little bundle of joy home. Overall, beagles are a low-maintenance breed but they are pretty energetic and require a lot of attention. Make sure someone in your family is willing and able to spend 30 minutes to an hour per day playing with your beagle puppy or taking him out to exercise.

Feeding and Beagle Puppy Care

One of the most important points to remember in beagle puppy care is to feed your beagle puppy high quality dry food because it is best for his digestion and teeth. Avoid feeding your beagle table scraps and when you do give treats as rewards, break them up into small pieces. Beagles love to eat and you have to be careful about how much food you give them since they do tend to overeat. Overweight beagles can have many health problems like heart disease and arthritis.

Grooming and Beagle Puppy Care

Grooming in beagle puppy care is pretty simple. Just brush your beagle puppy’s coat a few times a week and use a hound glove to keep his coat shiny. Also use a fine tooth flea comb to remove dirt, fleas, and loose hairs. Beagles shed moderately. They do not require any special grooming and don’t need to be bathed frequently.

Training Your Beagle Puppy

Beagles are naturally chasers so it is important to keep them confined in a fenced yard so they don’t escape.Anytime you take your beagle puppy for a walk, make sure to keep him on a leash so he doesn’t run off.Beagles are very social and love to play with other dogs and people so an important aspect of beagle puppy care is frequently giving your beagle puppy love and attention.
House training your beagle puppy will be relatively easy. In beagle puppy care and training your best bet is to make your puppy sleep in a crate in order to develop bladder control. It is also important to train your puppy by rewarding him rather than punishing him. Many veterinarians and breeders recommend obedience classes in order to teach your new puppy to behave properly and obediently.

Beagle puppies are playful companions that are an incredibly cute addition to any household. Beagle puppy care is not high maintenance but you do have to do a little homework before taking your beagle puppy home. Make sure to find a good veterinarian to stay in touch with if any problems arise and above all, make sure to give your beagle all the love and attention he needs.

One of the best ways to get a puppy for free is to go to a puppy adoption center and adopt a puppy. Not only will you get a dog for free if you adopt a puppy from the puppy adoption center, you also help some poor little fellow find a home. Just think of how happy that little beagle will be if you take it out of the beagle puppy adoption center and bring it home.

Although adopting a puppy is a good idea, you should be extra careful when it comes to selecting puppies at the puppy adoption center. Bear in mind that most dogs that are rescued have gone through a lot of bad experiences in the past which made then wary about trusting people, especially strangers like you. Since most of these puppies have not really been treated well in the past, many of these are sick and may need a lot of medical attention. To make sure that you get the right puppy from the puppy adoption center, here are some things that you need to do before you decide to bring the puppy home.

Check The Puppy's Medical Record

Before you decide to adopt a puppy, ask for medical records of that puppy first. Most puppy adoption centers keep medical records of the puppies that they have rescued. Just ask the puppy adoption center records officer for the records of the puppy that you want to adopt so that you can study it thoroughly. You may also ask the veterinarian who examined the puppy about the condition of the puppy. Know everything there is to know about the medical condition of the puppy before you bring it home. You don’t want to be caught off guard when it comes to your pet’s health.

Test The Temperament Of The Puppy

Some puppies are grumpy and some are not. If you don't want to be stuck with a little dog with an attitude, you better give the little fellow a temperament test before you decide to bring it home. For instance, you can roll the puppy on its back and rub its tummy to determine if the puppy likes to be touched. Another way to test the temperament of the puppy is to play with the puppy's ears. Tug and squeeze the ears a little but do not hurt the puppy. If the puppy growls when you try to play with its ears, you would be better off if you just leave the little fellow at the puppy adoption center.

Whether you are looking for a free pug puppy or a free dachshund puppy, you have to be prepared to do a lot of looking because big name full breed dogs do not come cheap usually, let a lone free. This is not to say that you will never be able to find yourself a free pug puppy, it is just that you are going to have to do a lot of looking. The free puppies are usually the ones that are mixed breeds or ones that have temperament issues and things like that. Of course, there are the ones that are full breed pups that someone just needs to quickly find a good home for.

When the people do not have the time to wait for a buyer because they are relocating and cannot take the puppies with them or something to that effect, the free pug puppy may be offered. This is a quick way for the owners to find the puppy a new home that can give it the love, attention, and space that it needs. Finding buyers does not always happen very quickly and this is why some people have no choice but to offer a free pug puppy up for grabs. While this is sad for the owners because they have to give up their puppy and they are missing out on some cash, this is a great thing for you because you can very well get a free pug puppy instead of shelling out a couple hundred dollars.

Where To Start The Search

When it comes to wanting to find the free pug puppy that you have always wanted, you want to first prepare yourself that it may take a little time. If you leave yourself thinking that you will be able to scan the classifieds one time and end up with the puppy of your dreams, then you are most likely setting yourself up for being disappointed. When it comes down to it, you are probably looking at weeks, if not months, of endless searching for a free pug puppy. You may even get to the point that you feel as though it is time to give up. Keep moving forward though and keep looking, as you will eventually find the free pug puppy that you have been searching for.

Start searching through all of the classified ads, which mean the local newspapers and all of the online ad sites that you can think of. Keep on eye out on the bulletin boards at the local library and the grocery store because you just never know where you will eventually come across that ad for the free pug puppy. Make sure to let your family and friends know that you are on the hunt for a free pug puppy so that they can let you know if they come across any. In the end, this may be a joint effort but it will be worth it when you are finally able to bring your new puppy home with you.

It can certainly be difficult deciding on which breed of dog to buy, but there are many reasons why you should want to buy Labrador puppy. If you are not already aware of the specific reasons why you would want to buy Labrador puppy, you will want to read on to find out more about this.

What Makes the Labrador Such a Great Dog?

There are lots of different reasons as to why you would want to buy Labrador puppy. For one, they are just so darn cute. You will never get tired of looking at your adorable little Labrador puppy, and they are really just one of the cutest little dogs ever. They have such adorable features and if you have kids in the home, they are sure to love it.

Another reason that you would want to buy Labrador puppy is because these dogs are so easily trained. Of course after you buy Labrador puppy it will just be small, and will be very energetic and playful. However, once you start training the dog and teaching them to obey you, you will see how well they listen and respond, especially when compared to other breeds of dog.

The puppy care with a Labrador puppy is much easier than that with many other breeds of dog, so this will be a lot of added convenience for you because you will not have to worry about spending so much time just grooming them.

Once you have put thought into it, if it turns out that you are in fact interested in getting a Labrador puppy, now you will just need to know where to go to buy Labrador puppy. Fortunately, there are quite a few options that you have available to you. Really, the best idea, no matter what breed of dog you are interested in getting, is to check out the pounds and shelters in your area.

This way you can see whether they have any Labrador puppies that you would be interested in buying. This way you are not taking part in the overpopulation of dogs in the world, which is in large part due to breeders who just continue to breed dogs purely for profit – not all, but many. You are giving a home to a dog that has nowhere else to go, and so not only do you get a furry little friend, but you also get to feel good about it too which is nice.

Animal separation anxiety disorder ends up being a huge and tough to deal with concern for dogs and their owners, in a similar fashion to obsessive-compulsive grooming or spraying is cats who are under this stress and their subjects. For what reason did I think of these two obviously unrelated problems? You’ll see in just a moment just exactly what it is that joins these two concerns and what specifically they share as possible cures and methods to relieve the situation. You certainly don’t want to enable a repeating pattern of destructive behavior to go on and create issues both for your little friends and you.

Pet Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety for dogs is quite a troublesome issue. Canines are rather socially focused animals and rely heavily on the idea of a pack for all social relationships. As pet owners, humans are the lead dogs of the pack and become as the leader. However in our busy existence, those pack heads wander away and abandon the dogs alone by themselves for most of the day. Animals separation anxiety manifests itself by means of many fairly apparent and increasingly problematic symptoms. Beginning with barking, salivating, and hyperventilating, they may quickly grow into deeper stages of inappropriate defecation and / or peeing, wrecking furniture, and attempting to escape and locate the pack themselves. This will of course fail and create noticably more strain on the poor pet.

Obsessive Compulsive Grooming Disorder

Anxiety concerns in felines are not at all the same as dogs. Felines are more independent of their owners, yet social relationship issues often still come about. Cats can be rather territorial and aggressive, so cats may have concerns both when moving out of a familiar home to a different, unfamiliar place, or anxiety brought on by aggressive felines either in the area or the home. Cat anxiety will be seen in obsessive compulsive grooming behaviors, where the cat cleans themselves so much and actually go so far as to clean off patches of their fur!

Clomicalm

Clomicalm generic is a partial cure to just these groups of problems. Just like people and their anxiety disorders, pets may get treated with medicines for the same kinds of disorders. In a nutshell, this is pet prozac. Medications such as Clomicalm work to assist take the edge off from your pet’s stress, giving you time and breathing area to resolve the specific underlying problems. Clomicalm side effects might include drowsiness, dizziness, dehydration, weakness, constipation or loss of appetite, so you should to be careful that your animal gets lots to drink and you look over them closely for a while. They obviously can’t tell you in plain English if they’re not feeling good. A Clomicalm dog is a happy, healthy pet!

Today, more and more dog owners are getting extra large dog houses for their pets even if their dog are small or medium sized.

Just like human loves big houses, so do dogs and it gives more space to play and lie in. You can even use the excess space to stock your dog stuff such as dog food and toys.
When shopping for extra large dog houses, make sure you have these basic features that all dog house should have.

If you are placing your dog house outdoors, it is important to have heating for your dog unless you want your dog to freeze in winter. Proper ventilation and air flow is also necessary and the newer dog house models will come with pre installed air conditioning and heater systems.

Your dog house should also be water proof to prevent rain and snow from seeping in. This is important as most dog houses are made from wood and water can damage the structure of your dog house much faster.

An alternative is to buy plastic dog houses that are already waterproof. Nowadays, some wooden dog houses are treated to prevent water from corroding the wood so you can buy these too if you want an authentic wooden dog house.

High winds are also detrimental to your dog´s health and it is important your dog house has special insulation to prevent winds from entering the dog house. Make sure it is sturdy and heavy enough to not get blown away in case of strong gust of wind.

Extra large dog house are especially suitable if you have more than one dog. You can house your dogs together. Dogs have a tendency to curl themselves together when they sleep so it´s a perfect choice.
