I saw a tragic event one morning when I was walking my dog Rigby off leash. He was galavanting with another group of three dogs, a collie and two goldens. Rigby is a water dog, and I mean fanatical, as were the others, the only trouble was, their owner didn’t want them to go for a dip…. You can imagine what occurred, the gang were in the water and loving it!

Their master tried calling them out and when they felt it was time to get out, to my shock… they got belted, after that the dogs would not come near their master, and who would be suprised. Rigby on the other hand came and sat beside me quaking. At the time he was still quite young, so what was the difference?

We had been using Clicker Training by then for about 8 weeks and though still in the beginning stages, Rigby’s understanding of our instructions was very clear and he knew that if he played the game, he would get a treat or some scrumbles. We still see the others on the odd occasion but their master still twigged!
