Dog Training for Dummies: What Are Some Good Dog Training Books Or Dvd?

Thursday 2nd of September 2010

A Reader Asks…

I currently have my 5 month old in puppy class. I was going to go through all 4 classes at Petsmart, but now I’m thinking I could save about $300.00 and teach my dog the same things (and probably more), if I invest in a good book or DVD. Any suggestions? I’d prefer a DVD, but books are fine too. That way I can also apply the training to our other two dogs at the same time.

Dogs need punishment to keep them in order and to …

Dog Training for Dummies: Dog Training – Dog No Command

The ‘no’ command is a widely used command throughout dog training and is used to tell your dog not to do something or to stop them in their tracks to avoid dangerous situations or general bad behavior.

I think of the no command as more of a training technique rather than a command and to perfect the technique you will need to be consistent for most of your time with your pet dog. The no …

Discount Dog Toys: Is There An Indestructable Dog Toy?

A Reader Asks…

My dogs (a beagle and a lab) get a kick out of completely destroying every toy I give them!! I love surprising them with toys, but within 48 hours, they are usually in tiny pieces! I usually stick with ropey toys, but every now and then I’ll give them plush dog toys. They have a little plush soccar ball thing at the moment that has so far survived for 5 days (woo hoo!!)…
So any toy suggestions for dogs who are serious chewers?

Discount Dog Toys: How Can I Help My Dog (toy Fox Terrier, 6 Yrs Old) Adjust To A Second Dog (pomeranian, 6 Months Old)?

A Reader Asks…

Our toy fox terrier (6 yrs old) is a little spoiled being the only dog, but we are going to add a new dog – Pomeranian (6 months old) to the family. I’m a little bit concerned about our fox terrier not adjusting well. What can I do to introduce them? Will fox terrier adjust with time or will she continue to exhibit her authority? Your suggestions/recommendations/advice are appreciated.
