This is an outline of dog foods, based on expense, for some varieties said to be acceptable for dogs with food allergies.

On the less expensive side, Chicken Soup dog offers more fruit and vegetable in their recipe and includes potatoes, carrots, peas, apples, tomatoes, blueberries, cranberries and spinach.

Avoderm is manufactured from avocados to promote healthy, glowing, beautiful skin and coat. Vegetarian options are also available.

In the mid price range Eagle Pack make Holistic Select which are protein rich recipes with added prebiotics, probiotics and antioxidants. The chicken meal is hormone free and fruits and veggies are all human grade. Eagle dog food comes in dry and canned formulas in a variety of flavors.

Blue dog food or rather Blue Buffalo dog food contains high protein, whole grains, veggies and fruit formulated based on what humans eat. Dogs are less likely to be allergic to foods they have not eaten often, like sweet potatoes and brown rice. There are dry and canned options but in 2007, some of their products were recalled.

Similarly, Pinnacle’s Canine Holistic Allergen-Free Formulas for dogs use foods in recipes such as trout and oats to which dogs are less likely to be intolerant. Nature’s Recipe dog food contains no beef, wheat or corn products as these often are allergy-promoting ingredients. The makers of Inova dog food also make a protein rich food with fruits and vegetables, called Evo.

You will not find by-products such as wheat, corn, artificial flavors or colors, or chemical preservatives in Life’s Abundance dog food. Key ingredients are chicken meal, fish meal, carrots, apples, spinach, celery, alfalfa meal, ground brown rice, antioxidants, live probiotics and chelated minerals.

For the luxury alternative, Abady dog food company make meals which contain less of these problem foods for your dog, such as soybeans or beet pulp. They formulate dry, canned and raw foods with a sizable cost.

IVD dog food ,known at present as Royal Canin, manufacture recipes which are breed specific, and special recipes like Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Hypoallergenic HP 19 that is a lactose and wheat gluten-free recipe.

Keep in mind that these recipes may only be a temporary solution. When you suspect that your dog is suffering from allergies, it is better that you evaluate the food that is creating problem and arrange to feed appropriately.

If your dog is displaying symptoms of food allergies, schedule a visit with your vet as soon as possible.
